Wakey Book Worm

A Physical computing Lab. This is how you WONT fall asleep during reading in bed.

Tilt Book

In this project I used a tilt sensor to detect an involuntary change of pose that occurs when falling asleep while reading a book. The sensor is connected to any book using a small clam, and positioned in a way that would close the circuit only when the book is horizontal. This is to simulate a sleeping position when the hand loose muscle power or grip and the new natural position of the book affect the tilt sensor metal ball to close the circuit. On the same circuit a Piezo is connected, used here as an output sound device, which buzzing when the book in the “unwanted” sleeping position.

In use:

  • Tilt sensor
  • Piezo (as speaker)
  • Arduino Uno
  • Breadboard
